Halifax River Clean-up Project

The Halifax River Clean-Up is an "all hands on deck" project that invites community members and visitors to clean up the banks of our beautiful Intracoastal Waterway. There's always plenty of camaraderie -- and usually a dolphin siting or two!

Catholic Charities provides local families with emergency family assistance, a food pantry, and disaster response services. The office in Daytona Beach, for example, provided assistance and case management to the survivors of the 2008 Ground Hog Day tornadoes.

Halifax Urban Ministries aids our homeless families with donations of food, clothing and shelter. All donations are appreciated.In addition, delegates can assist in preparing and/or serving food at the daily hot meal program, during the lunch and dinner hours.

The Star Shelter offers several areas in which delegates can volunteer.Meals are served to the homeless population daily from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and assistance is also needed in the Direct Services building in the morning where volunteers coordinate shower schedules, the issuance of fresh clothing and mail retrieval.In addition, volunteers can act as shelter monitors and interact with the children in the shelter while their parents seek employment online.
