Daytona Beach Official Visitors Guide - page 14

Whether you want to hike, paddle
or pedal, ride on a wave or on
horseback, zip around on a jet ski
or take a leisurely nature cruise, the
Daytona Beach area is your place for
outdoor adventures.
Among our many avenues for
kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddle
boards is the Tomoka State Park
Paddling Trail, a scenic 13 miles that
starts as a narrow tree-canopied
waterway and expands into a
wide, coastal marsh-lined river
near an important archeological
site – Tomoka State Park, once a
Timucuan Indian village.
Bicyclists have long loved The
Loop, a 34-mile-long, scenic
two-lane road in Ormond Beach.
Off-road bike paths, along with
bicycle rentals, abound as well.
Trails take hikers deep into the
area’s many parks. For those who
prefer a paved trail for walking,
bicycling, inline skating or exploring
in a wheelchair, the Spring to Spring
and East Coast Regional rail trails
weave for miles and miles through
otherwise untouched natural
beauty. They can be accessed at Blue
Spring State Park and Green Spring
Park, respectively.
Vendors at many venues rent
canoes, kayaks, paddleboards, surf
boards and jet skis and offer lessons
in their use. Equestrians can make
arrangements for horseback rides on
the beach or on trails.
