delights for
visitors to
the Daytona
Beach area is
a restaurant
overlooking the water.
First on the go-to list is the
South Peninsula, where, tucked
under the Dunlawton Avenue
bridge, are several hot spots,
including Our Deck Down Under,
for top-notch fish sandwiches.
Hungry birds are known to come
begging. A bit further on, in
Wilbur-by-the-Sea, is Boondocks
Restaurant, right beside a
marina, where you may see flying
fish in the channel. Besides its
atmosphere, the place is known
for homemade soups and sauces,
and its garlic bread.
In Ponce Inlet, Racing’s North
Turn Beach Bar &Grille is the spot
where racing history began, right
outside on the sand in 1936.
On the river, Down theHatch
SeafoodCompany traces its history
toNathaniel Hasty, aNewEngland
pirate. The site evolved from
marina, to fish camp, and nowa
place known for its shrimp baskets,
outdoor deck and bar, andmusic
weekends.Manatees are frequent
visitors.
Abit further on is Inlet Harbor
Restaurant, known for its seafood,
happy hour and livemusic daily and
a big outdoor deck. Been fishing?
The chef will prepare your catch, no
need to fillet it yourself.
Where are you staying? There’s
the Azure restaurant at The Shores
Resort &Spa, so comfy and elegant
inside, more casual outside on
the terrace. If steak is your thing,
Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse in the
Hilton Daytona BeachOceanfront
Resort offers prime beef. Eat at the
bar, and look out at the ocean as
you enjoy your drink. Feelingmore
laid-back? Visit the nearby Ocean
Deck Restaurant &Beach Club,
known for its RastaWrap, live
reggae and karaoke.
To really get out on the water,
both the Daytona Beach Pier and
SunglowFishing Pier have popular
restaurants. Joe’s Crab Shack at the
former, Crabby Joe’s Deck &Grill,
at the latter.
